Aggie Mom Activities: Connecting, Caring, Contributing

Connecting

Through being an Aggie Mom we are connected to other Aggie Moms, TAMU, our Aggie students and the community of Aggies in Austin. We have fun and fellowship at our monthly meetings, parties, and an annual luncheon honoring our past presidents. We learn about TAMU through guest speakers from TAMU. We get to meet Revielle at Howdy Night. As a member organization of the Federation of Texas A&M University Mothers' Clubs we are connected to Aggie Moms nationwide.

Mentoring Mom for New Aggie Moms

Denise Murphy is this year's mentoring mom. She would love to hear from any new Austin Aggie Moms or anyone wanting to know more about the organization. If you have questions or are interested in getting together before the general meeting contact our Mentoring Aggie Mom.

Caring

We support students through Howdy Night, scholarships, Goody Bags, contributions to TAMU organizations, support for the Singing Cadets, and sponsoring the Abbott Leadership Conference each year. We have two endowed scholarship administered through TAMU financial aide office and annual scholarships given through Austin Aggie Moms local scholarship program.

Goody Bags for Final Exam Week

Each semester the Austin Aggie Moms fill Goody Bags and deliver them to our students. It is our way of saying we support you as you prepare for final examinations. Order a goody bag for your aggie.

Contributing

Through our fundraising activities: Singing Cadets Concert and Bracelet Sales we contribute to Texas A&M, the Singing Cadets, and other student organizations.

There are 126 Aggie Mothers' Clubs. The Federation has three meetings on campus each year: fall, spring, and during Parent's Weekend. "Aggie Mom Weekend Retreat " a.k.a. Aggie Mom "Fish" Camp

Our aggies have a Fish Camp, T-Camp, or Howdy Camp. These camps aid in the transitions of new students to college life and to orient them to the traditions at Texas A&M University. Aggie Moms Weekend Retreat is our version of Fish Camp!

In 1994, Aggie Moms saw a need to help new Aggie Moms through the transition when their young adults leave home for college.

This camp provides an opportunity to spend time with other moms who are experiencing that same adjustment to the empty nest plus a chance to learn more about the University their college student has chosen. There are workshops, campus tours, meals, and bonding with both "new" and "old" Aggie Moms.

The camp counselors and staff are moms just like you who have experienced sending a student off to college. All have attended Aggie Moms' Fish Camp and will make your weekend one your will not forget.
